What Happened To Grandmaster Flash?
Grandmaster Flash is the voice of an entire generation of 1970s hip-hop pioneers. If we look closely at the artist, we all may notice a big scar on his throat. Many of his fans often wonder how the scar came, and many show their concern for the well-being of the rapper.
As far as we know, Grandmaster Flash has not talked anything about his scars or any other health condition that could probably leave a noticeable scar on his neck. The DJ is currently doing great with his work and heading towards upcoming musical tours.
Born in Barbados, his family immigrated to the United States. He was raised in the Bronx, New York City, where he joined Samuel Gompers High School. In his childhood, Joseph was always fascinated by his dad’s record collection.
In fact, his early interest in DJing originated from this fascination along with his mother’s wish for him to educate himself in electronics. Soon after high school, Joseph joined the earliest New York DJ scene. He attended various parties set up by early luminaries, like Disco King Mario and DJ Kool Herc.
Grandmaster Flash Neck Scars Origin
Grandmaster Flash has a noticeable big scar on his neck. Upon searching for the origin of the scar, nothing could be found at the moment. Well, many of his fans are curious to know the reason behind the injury to his neck.
It is quite surprising that the matter has never come up in any interview or anything, considering how gnarly those neck scars look. Many people believe that there must be a crazy story behind the scar of the DJ.
In his early days, he played parties and collaborated with famous rappers like Kurtis Blow and Lovebug Starski. He later formed his own group in the late 1970s. The original group consisted of Keef Cowboy, Melle Mel, and The Kidd Creole, and the group went by the name “Grandmaster Flash & the 3 MCs.”
Later two other rappers joined the group briefly, however, were replaced by Rahiem and Scorpio, to make the popular Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. The group instantly gained recognition with their skillful raps.
